The Long Lake Loop is a delightful 3.9 mile trail in the forests and farm fields surrounding Long Lake. The loop is moderately hilly and can be muddy in spring. Enjoy the beautiful views of Pioneer Peak, Matanuska Peak and Lazy Mountain.
It can be accessed by multiple trailheads in the Matansula Greenbelt and is on land managed by Alaska State Parks and by the University of Alaska Fairbanks (Matanuska Experiment Farm). Please follow all posted signs to stay off of farm fields.
Take the Glenn Highway to Mile 36.4, turn north into Matanuska Lake. You enter the park immediately. There is no Kepler Drive; Glenn Highway Mile 36.4 is the driveway into the campground.
