ONLINE HUNTING TAGS AND PERMITS NOW AVAILABLE

Hunters can now purchase tags and permits online through a new service provided by the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR). The service can be accessed from the Hunt section of the Division of Forestry & Wildlife website, where users can click “Purchase Tags & Permits.”

Users can log in and select the tags or permits they want to purchase. Required information can be entered into the online form, and payment can be made through the website. After payment, users can simply download their purchased tags or permits. Should the user misplace their downloaded copy, she or he can find the tag or permit at any time from the portal’s My Tags & Permits page.

Previously, hunters needed to physically visit Forestry and Wildlife offices to purchase hunting tags in person or pay cash on the day of a hunt at a check-in table. The new system allows for contactless purchasing available 24 hours a day. For those without internet access, the older in-person options may still be available.

“This update will offer Hawaii’s hunters a convenient and safe way to purchase online tags and permits,” said Jason Omick, a Wildlife Biologist with the Division of Forestry and Wildlife. “Our ultimate vision is to have all of our hunting services and information available online. Adding online tags and permits has put our agency one step closer to this goal.”

The online service was created in partnership with NIC Hawaiʻi, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyler Technologies.
