Area
Since the 1950s, Headlands Beach has been a popular day-use park, boasting Ohio’s largest beach area. A summer haven, it draws tens of thousands of visitors every year with its natural, mile-long sandy beach. The newly restored sand dune marsh hosts the northernmost portions of the Buckeye Trail, and two state preserves - Headlands Dunes and Mentor Marsh - are found nearby. Visitors come for spectacular Lake Erie sunsets, the nearby lighthouse, great birding, and the thrill of sea glass hunting.
One half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset. See rules about legitimate recreational activities. If you have questions, call the park office.
