Ashmont Community Information
Ashmont Post Office started in 1915 but the community really grew with the coming of the railway in 1919. Elevators and shipping facilities made the community grow. In 1939 the building of Highway 28 brought more people to the area.
The Hamlet of Ashmont is administered by the County of St Paul # 19 and in 2021 had a population of 125. It has a large school and some very active community organizations: the volunteer fire department, and the agricultural society.
Traveling on Hwy 28, take the Ashmont turnoff and go straight into the community. Turn left on Railway Ave, and you will see the staging area on your left. The staging area is just before the Ag. grounds.
Please note – unless otherwise indicated, all staging areas and rest stops are day use only with no overnight camping allowed. If people need to overnight, a letter of authorization must be obtained in advance from the Iron Horse Trail office call 1-877-645-4521 or email info@ironhorsetrail.ca
