Due to the closure of certain State and City Parks and other facilities in response to reducing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic virus, access to certain trailheads may be restricted. All Nā Ala Hele Trails remain open, unless otherwise noted.

This road in Puʻu ka Pele Forest Reserve does a loop through a pine tree plantation from the 1960's. The road will eventually bring you back the paved Makaha Ridge Road. This road provides access to Makaha Arboretum and Hunting Unit H.
Rules & Regulation
Caution should be used during weekends and state holidays when hunting activities are open. Non-hunters are advised to wear bright colored clothing and stay on established trails. This road may also be closed for HIGH FIRE DANGER. Call the Kauai Forestry Office at 274-3433 for any notices. Do not use any trail or access road that is not delineated by name and color and that may also be displayed on these maps. The marked features are managed for public recreational use. Other trails or roads that branch off from the public features may be on private property, and are not managed for any public recreational use. Access is subject to adjacent landowner approval, and if used without authorization, you will be trespassing and possibly putting yourself at risk. Downloadable resources are provided below.

Hunting may be in progress on or near this hiking trail. Hunting dogs may be off-leash while engaged in the hunt. Hikers must keep their dogs leashed at all times and remove dog waste while on this trail.
The road is located to between the mile maker 2.75 and 3.0 on Makaha Ridge Road. Turn left on the un paved road and past a yellow iron gate.
