Bay Area Ridge Trail: El Sereno Open Space Preserve

Park at the trailhead on Montevina Road (very limited parking) and access the trail via the Montevina Ridge Trail. Bypass the summit of Mount El Sereno, the preserve’s namesake, as you follow the Aquinas Trail through the preserve. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Lexington Reservoir, Silicon Valley and the Diablo Range from the trail. Wind your way through an exposed chaparral community with meadows at higher elevations and a few shaded bay laurel stands near Trout Creek. When you reach the Serenity Trail Overlook, pause and enjoy – you will see the future wildlife and trail crossing at Highway 17!
